Film industry peeved at National film awards event
National films awards function at Delhi last night triggered yet another controversy, this time against the President Ramnath Kovind, who gave away only 10 top awards the rest were done by Minister Smriti Irani and her deputy.
The industry tycoons consider it as an insult to the industry and the yeomen service rendered by top artists of the country.Of the 140 awardees, 120 of them signed a protest memorandum to the President, but all took home their awards.
Within the one hour allocated by the President to the function he gave away awards of Sri Devi family, Vinod Khanna wife and daughter Akshay Khanna, AR Rahman KJ Yesudas, Riddi Sen ( best actor) and the awards for best film, actor, actress, director, music director etc
They said in their protest memo that recognition of their talent with awards was an honor but their presentation by President was a dignity given to their service. By not present for giving away for all, the President and the Govt had insulted the industry, they alleged.
