All Fury Zero Emotion

What is the film Okkadu Migiladu about?
It is difficult to say what the film is really about? The title of the film suggests one thing and hero’s present track takes us in another direction. Basically it would be about Surya (Manoj) and his journey to be a rebellion inspiring the youth.
How is Manchu Manoj’s performance?
Manchu Manoj is loud and over the top as one expects from him. He is playing a leader in the movie but his acting is same that we see him do in Gunturodu (the police station scenes and fights). A settled and subtle display of angst and anger would have made his role memorable.
Direction By Ajay Andrews Nuthakki?
Without any doubt it is a difficult subject to execute for a debut director and when we look at the movie the lack of experience is amply clear. First of all there is no clarity on what the tone of the film should be? It is a basic thing to be expected out of a film and when someone fails there, it is hard to make any impact.
Okkadu Migiladu is actually not what the teaser and trailer of the film suggests. It is mostly a survival genre feature and it didn’t gel with the politically charged atmosphere and the message it wants to convey. The first half of the film is nothing but fury with so much rage and bullets blazing from all side. However, no emotion is generated. The real interest, if at all, is created in the second half when the boat journey begins. The desperation to survive is caught well in parts and one gets a sense of relief at the end of the journey. How one wishes it was what the entire film focused and shown in detail?
The present day arc of the story feels too forced and out of place in the back and forth narrative. It makes the film a mess regarding the overall movie watching experience. In the end what we get is a film which had its moments in parts, but when seen fully, there is zero emotional connect due to loudness.
Anisha Ambrose and others?
There are few known faces in the movie apart from Manchu Manoj. The heroine Anisha Ambrose happens to be one among them. She has nothing much to do. Posani Krishna Murali has better role in comparison. Suhasini is wasted. Milind Gunaji overacts.
Music and other departments?
Musically there is nothing in the movie that stands out. There are parts of background score that show spark, but it gets repetitive. The cinematography is weak and so is the editing. There are few good dialogues on nationalism and terrorism which are fine. One would have heard them in trailer itself, though.
Given the recent attempt PSV Garuda Vega where the team delivered sticking to a genre without deviations, maybe, Okkadu Migiladu too should have been made sticking to single survival genre.
