No takers for Padmavat distribution
The controversial Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has no takers in the distribution network of Bollywood after the Supreme Court’s stay.
Worried about threats by the Rajput outfits the anxious distributors of the state, are shying away from buying the distribution rights of the film. Industry sources claim that even at Rs.5 or 6 crores per region there were no takers for the film as it out the distributors and cinema hall owners at minimum risk.
According to the trade sources, producers were demanding a sum of Rs 5 crore for the distribution rights of the film in Rajasthan and a few distributors were keen to pay it seeing the grandeur and scale of the film. However, following a protest by Rajput groups, distributors have preferred to maintain a distance from the film.
