100 crore box office collection is not a big deal in Bollywood. Irrespective of talk, top star films are easily crossing the century mark. English Vinglish fame director Gauri Shinde’s second directorial Dear Zindagi that had superstar Shah Rukh Khan in an extended cameo has raked over 100 cr worldwide. It is indeed big achievement for a small time film.
Talented young actress Alia Bhatt played lead role in the coming of age drama film stars an ensemble cast of Ira Dubey, Yashaswini Dayama, Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi and Ali Zafar. The film was made on a budget of Rs 22 crores.
Dear Zindagi was released in Canada and USA on 23 November, and on 25th worldwide. It opened in about 1200 screens nationwide and in 600 screens in other countries. The film also had a special screening on 23rd November in Mumbai.
As of Friday, the film has collected Rs 68.40 crore domestically and Rs 31.80 crore from overseas, taking worldwide total gross to 100.20 Cr.
